In order to live and work overseas for an extended period of time, more than three-months, you will need a work Visa. In Korea, the work Visa issued to ESL teachers is called the “E – 2 Visa”
After your application documents have been reviewed by your employer, they will issue you the “Notice of Appointment” letter which states that you will be employed by them to teach English in Korea. This document is needed to get your E2 “ teaching Visa. The visa processing time varies according to different countries. In U.S. it generally takes 2~3 business days and in Canada it takes 5~10 business days. Note: If you are hired by a Korean public school, face to face interview at the Korean consulate (embassy) is not required. You can apply for your Visa in person or by mailing. |
